Joe (a.k.a. Joe-Joe) wrote and performed his first song when he was 12 years old. His musical roots run deep in Country & Gospel music. His greatest musical influences are his mother & father, their gospel quartet, and the church choir. His secular influences include The Eagles, Alabama and Charlie Daniels.

With no formal training, playing piano and guitar were born out of necessity to accompany his dream of singing and songwriting. First it was the Piano (with help from his pianist mother), and then came the Guitar. With either instrument or without, Joe has always had the knack and the savvy to be in front of people. "I guess I've always been somewhat of an entertainer, even as a kid. I love to see people laugh, have a good time and react to what I'm doing. It's always been easy for me to get in front of a crowd and just go with it. I guess that's really why I do what I do."

Joe is a graduate of Bradley Central High School in Cleveland, Tennessee and Emory & Henry College in Emory, Virginia. While pursuing and achieving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Economics at Emory & Henry, Joe was a member of Beta Lambda Zeta Social Fraternity and a three year letterman and first team wide receiver for their nationally ranked football team.

After college, he kept his dream alive by writing music and performing every chance he got. In 1999, after much prodding from family, friends and fans, Joe decided to pursue the music profession full time. After joining forces with his brother, Cory, in that same year, "The Collins Brothers" were formed as a legitimate musical act.

Joe is a proud member of the Country Music Association (CMA) as well as the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP).
