Cory's debut as a musician, while heavily influenced by his parent's gospel music, came at the ripe age of 13, in front of over 300 screaming co-eds, playing drums in his brother's college band. He has had the percussion "bug" ever since. He honed his skills in basement jam sessions with brother Joe, and played regularly in mom and dad's gospel group.

Cory graduated from North Iredell High School in Statesville, North Carolina and East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee. While in college, drums and music took a back seat to football as Cory evolved into one of the best collegiate punters in the nation. After an award winning career in high school and college and a stint in the NFL (Dallas Cowboys), Cory picked up the sticks again and joined his brother to form "The Collins Brothers" in 1999. His steady beat, charisma and tight harmonies help give The Collins Brothers Band their "Big Time" sound and stage show.
